VOORHEESVILLE ROD & GUN CLUB NEWSLETTER
JUNE 2019

Meeting called to order by President Mike Moran on June 3rd.

Thanks to Nancy, Madonna, & Michelle for a delicious turkey dinner, complete with all the trimmings.

We are moving the July meeting to Wednesday, the 10th, the usual 7 p.m.

Membership increased by seven (7) @ the meeting. We welcomed Douglas Rutnik, Jr., Felix Hyjek, Tim Hennessy, & Joe McCaffrey. You will be seeing a lot of Joe, since he is joining our cadre of bartenders. We also welcomed Claude Rizzicone, Claude Rizzicone,Jr, & Jr member Anthony Rizzicone. That, I believe, is the first time that we ever had three (3) generations of the same family join on the same night. Welcome to all.

Trap attendance has been very encouraging, & we are 4-1 so far this summer in league results. We have had the Youth Clay Target league shooting on Saturdays, & the response has been very enthusiastic. We anticipate that this will be permanent in some ways going forward. We had fourteen (14) young individuals participate, & we are hoping to lengthen the experience next year, & reach as many as twenty (20). The participants actually went to the Village Board to thank us for providing the opportunity for this experience.

Tony Lattore has three (3) different classes for June & July—a Concealed Carry course on June 15th; a Range Safety course on June 22nd; & a July 21st Pistol course. For all details, costs, venues, etc. contact him @ 518-441-2160.

Speaking of the range, we have some work to do, & are considering widening the pistol range. All that is contingent on the whole area finally drying out.

One other note about the property. It will be closed all day on Friday, July 5th.

As part of our contribution to the annual Memorial Day festivities on Saturday, May 25th, we operated the food venue from 3:30-9:30 p.m. We realized slightly over $600. to add to our Community Involvement coffers. Thanks to Ron Berrier & his volunteers for their efforts. Mark Switzer also thanked us for our contributions to the Jim Nichols Fund that helped in other areas of the day-long community event.

Our Gun Raffle is currently ongoing this month. There are still some numbers available that have not been drawn if you want a ticket. Frank Papa did a terrific job getting this fundraiser done. We will have final totals next month, after discounts, etc. have been finalized.

Alliance also needs volunteers (signup sheet @ Club) for August 13-18 @ the Altamont Fair. Your volunteerism includes a free pass to the Fair.

We are going to need a lot of members to fill a number of committees.

We need people to cook & prepare food & equipment for a number of events that we are hosting for people who rented our facilities. Please check with the Club on scheduled events and availability of your time.

We also need people to help prepare before & cleanup after these events, handling site preparation of the Pavilion, tables, chairs, etc. & indoor preparation in case of weather issues. Check @ Club for this committee.

We also will be organizing a Community Involvement Committee, which will guide us in our donations to various charities & organizations. Doug Bauer has agreed to be part of this committee. We need others to assist him. The outpouring of results from this committee will be to establish which organizations we will assist (in order to keep it local) & we will be determining the scope & size of our efforts in order to standardize them.

Next meeting, 7 p.m., July, 10th.
