Meeting called to order by President Mike Moran on March 6th.
Thanks to Nancy & Madonna for a tasty fish fry dinner.
The Wild Game Dinner is March 30th. Tickets are on sale now. There is a limit of six (6) per person, payable when you take the tickets. Barry Zwack will be coordinating the work party in preparation for the event. He will need lots of help (new members!!!). There will be a signup sheet on the wall. Prep week begins Monday, March 25th.
The Ham Shoot will be Palm Sunday, April 14th. Make sure that you take cards & sell them!!! The festivities will start @ 1 p.m.
We also have new shirts & sweatshirts available, in several colors.
There is ice fishing allowed @ Six Mile Water Works, since the Alliance received sportsman permission from the City of Albany. As part of that arrangement, you must let trout go.
We will be having a firearm/gun raffle with a daily prize beginning June 1st. The ticket costs $20. Winner based on evening NYS 3-digit daily draw. There are gift options and other avenues available in lieu of each firearm or prize for that day. Tickets are available @ the Club. We need to sell 1000 tickets, so get busy & sell them to your friends.
Don’t forget that the pavilion & the indoor rooms are available for your summer parties, outings, graduations, weddings, any type of social function. Members have special rates. This is a reminder, since we have a lot of bookings already. Don’t miss out.
Trap attendance has been very encouraging, & we will now be going to Noon shooting on Sundays for the months of March, April, & May. We will have the Youth Clay Target league shooting on Saturdays for a six-week trial period beginning shortly.
Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple gave us a very informative talk with emphasis on the additional gun laws & the other areas of concern that are interrelated with law enforcement. There were some eye-opening areas that concern mental health, addiction, & medical concerns, and the law enforcement community becomes deeply involved, since their physical facilities are part & parcel of many of these programs. That directly impacts our tax situation as residents of this state. He also discussed the Red Flag law, & indicated that the law enforcement community has many reservations about all of this gun legislation, because many of the individuals involved in passing these laws do not carefully research each proposal & receive or request no input from local law enforcement or their constituents. Sheriff Apple did indicate, however, that he has very constructive communication & interaction with Senator George Amedore, who has been a frequent supporter of our Club. We appreciate Sheriff Apple’s participation, & welcome him again.
We have some range issues upcoming, with other possibilities for greater usage of the range & interaction with other entities. Many questions arose at the meeting, so President Mike appointed a committee to begin dialogue & discussion on a myriad of issues. Many of those items will be conveyed under a separate mailing, & we welcome feedback from the members on those items, & any other concerns that you may have.
