VOORHEESVILLE ROD & GUN CLUB NEWSLETTER
Meeting called to order by President Mike Moran on November 7th.
Thanks to Nancy, Michelle, Madonna, Shannon, & Margi for a delicious chicken & dumpling dinner.
The range will only be available from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. beginning October 1st, with the opening of bow season. That will continue until December 15th.
The Turkey Shoot was a huge success. We ended up selling 121 cards & Marina Bayly ran 22 shoots the day of the event. Thanks, Marina & thanks to all who helped out & to a lot of members who sold cards. We had a very large enthusiastic crowd, & the weather was very cooperative.
The ATV Raffle was drawn. Henry Montgomery won the ATV. All the details will be @ December’s meeting & in December’s newsletter.
We have our $50. Super Raffle tickets. 1st Prize is $5000. We also have a number of other prizes. And, don’t forget—the member who sells the most tickets gets a free membership for 2019. Drawing will be now be @ the Cabin Fever party in February. That date will be official in the December newsletter.
We have a $5. processing fee for any member who wishes to use the kitchen & club facilities for any deer that you have. Pay the bartender the day that you use the Club. You are required to totally clean the kitchen & cooler areas. Please note that no such activity will occur on Tuesday, December 3rd, & Wednesday, December 4th, because the kitchen will be needed for our Annual Dinner.
The deer hide bucket is near the pavilion. We use those hides to make gloves & other necessities for needy veterans. Last year we had 97 hides , which were processed with the Guilderland Elks, Bethlehem Sportsmen’s Club & West Albany Rod & Gun Club (276 hides in all). We anticipate accelerated activity this year with the added participation of the Colonie Elks Lodge.
Leave your hides @ the Club. If you know of any other individuals that have hides, you may contact Bruce Lovett (518-505-3215) or Arnis Zilgme (518-466-9600).
And, while we are on the subject of deer & game, please have plastic bags & trays when you are hanging a deer in the cooler, because we offer that as a convenience (perk) to members. It is not in Nancy McAuliffe’s (or anybody else’s) list of things to do to have to scour & clean all the dried blood, etc. from the cooler.
Tony Lattore has a Range Safety Officer class scheduled for November 25th, & a Pistol Safety Course scheduled for December 2nd. Contact him @ 518-441-2160.
The Kids’ Xmas Party is Sunday, December 9th. Crafts @ 2 p.m. Dinner will be served @ 3 p.m. Santa arrives @ 4 p.m. Parents please provide a wrapped gift worth $20. or less with your child’s name on it for Santa to hand out.
